Co-Curricular

A Wellington College Prep education goes far beyond the National Curriculum to offer incredible enrichment opportunities. One week pupils might be gaining inspiration from a leading children’s author and the next be singing at the Royal Festival Hall or playing the role of a Tudor in our very own Tudor Barn!

We firmly believe that a modern and progressive education must include as much co-curricular activity as possible. A comprehensive programme of physical and creative activities complements our philosophy and encourages all pupils to try something new and develop the children’s passions, confidence and friendships.

Co-Curricular Highlights

  • Daily sport sessions lead by dedicated sports coaches and specialists.
  • Annual dramatic productions plus LAMDA Clubs and ‘Show in a Week’ holiday camps.
  • Weekly music lessons plus five choirs and seven ensemble groups from which to choose from. Over 75% of the school have individual music lessons.
  • Weekly art lessons, and the opportunity to drop into the Art Room during all playtimes.
  • A Design and Technology room boasting three 3D printers, a laser cutter and the more traditional woodwork apparatus.
  • Up to 60 lunchtime clubs for the children to enjoy including Karate, Magic, Laser Tag and Den Building.
  • Our "Golden Eagle programme" that provides Leadership and Service opportunities for children in all year groups as well as summer residential trips and termly speakers.

The co-curricular opportunities at Wellington College Prep are almost endless, and we encourage the children to make the very most of them.

Trips and Workshops

From Nursery to Year 8 all of our pupils enjoy a wide variety of trips to enhance their learning. These have included: The Natural History Museum, Kidzania, HMS Victory, Roman Baths, The Living Rainforest, Canterbury Cathedral, The Globe Theatre, West End shows and London art galleries. We regularly host immersive history workshops in the Pre-Prep and Prep.

Our older pupils are offered the opportunity to go on the school ski and snowboarding trip, our choir have completed European tours in France, Belgium and Holland. Year 8 pupils visit the battlefields of World War One and children get to perform at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
