Art is provided in three forms – as a curriculum subject, as an extra-curricular activity and, for more advanced artists, the Art Scholarship Programme, in preparation for senior school Scholarships.

• Pupils learn to use different materials, techniques, skills and design processes to communicate what they see, feel and think.
• They regularly make use of the school’s art facilities during lunch breaks and the department takes children to a range of art galleries, workshops or exhibitions each year.
• Pupils are encouraged to participate in a variety of competitions during the course of the year. High quality art exhibitions of the children’s work are a key feature of the department.

Classes are split in half and whilst one group has Design the other group has either Textiles, Food Technology or Coding and they stay with this subject for half a term.

• Design and Technology is taught in a spacious and well-equipped workshop. The children use some of the most up to date machinery, such as laser cutters or 3D printers.
• Pupils discover the different stages of the design process and the various tools, materials and techniques to turn their dreams and ideas into reality. Pupils work with plastics, metals and wood throughout the year groups.

Drama is very much a part of the life of Wellington College Prep and we have earned a reputation for high quality performance. Pupils relish the teamwork and working closely with their friends, finding and developing new skills, having fun and building confidence.

• In a year we perform four or five productions. Our annual large musical is designed to give everyone who would like, the opportunity to perform. This show has become our big spectacular, regularly featuring over 120 children in the cast with backstage opportunities for those who would like. This gives everyone the chance to experience musical theatre in a professional setting with full band, set, costumes and make-up.
• Performance is very important for all children and being part of a team that tells a story on stage is central to every child's education. LAMDA is offered as an extra-curricular lesson and senior pupils often go on to achieve Drama Scholarships at their senior schools.
• Pre-Prep and Years 3 & 4 perform their own shows as well as leading assemblies and other performances.  We produce studio productions in our own Edleston Performing Arts Studio and we perform smaller workshops and talent shows over the academic year. All Wellington College Prep boys and girls are encouraged to take part.

Music is a vital part of life at Wellington College Prep.  With a variety of different teaching and learning styles, we engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music.

• The music curriculum encompasses a broad range of topics and composers, and caters for the musical needs of all pupils with an equal emphasis on performance, composition and general musicianship. Twenty visiting music teachers work in the department alongside the Director of Music and Assistant Director of Music.
• Individual music tuition is offered on the following instruments: violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp and guitar, flute, recorder, oboe, bassoon, clarinet and saxophone, trumpet, cornet, euphonium, French horn, tenor horn, trombone, drum kit, orchestral percussion, piano and singing. Many Wellington College Prep pupils go on to achieve Music Scholarship awards each year.
• A huge number of extra-curricular activities are available to pupils on a weekly basis, including junior and senior choirs, orchestra, wind band, string group, harp, flute, brass and percussion ensembles, music theory groups, aural training sessions and boarders' practice sessions.
• Weekly support is also offered to relevant pupils with aural training, music theory and music scholarship preparation. Pupils are currently entered for exams with The Associated Board of Music.
• There are endless performance opportunities from concerts to competitions and chapel services. We promote an inclusive environment which aims to support, nurture, challenge and reward every musician. This approach is embedded in three key areas: stimulating classroom lessons, rewarding extracurricular activities and wider opportunities to engage in musical life. Listen to music on Soundcloud
